Domains and SSL

Add a domain, prove you control it, and get a certificate.

A hosting account has a primary domain. You can add:

  • Addon domains, on the same document root as the primary site or on their own
  • Subdomains
  • Aliases, which serve the same site under another name
  • Redirects, either 301 or 302

A new domain has to prove ownership with a DNS TXT record at _smashpanel-verify.example.com. If this server hosts the zone, the panel publishes that record. If DNS is elsewhere, add the TXT value the portal shows, wait for it to resolve, and check again.

Certificates

Let's Encrypt certificates are issued and renewed by the edge proxy, using an HTTP-01 check on port 80. The portal shows the certificate as active or pending.

Pending almost always means the name does not point at this server yet, or port 80 is blocked. Fix the A record, open port 80, and give the check a few minutes. Wildcard certificates are not part of this setup. Each name you serve gets its own certificate once HTTP-01 succeeds.

An imported site does not keep its old certificate. A new one is issued after DNS points here.
