DNS hosting and nameservers

Delegate a domain, or keep DNS elsewhere and point an A record here.

SmashPanel runs authoritative DNS. Creating an account creates a zone and an A record to the server.

Two ways to publish a site

Delegate the domain. At the registrar, set the nameservers to the ns1 and ns2 names this server uses, and make sure the glue A records exist. Edit the zone in the admin console or the client portal. Record types: A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, NS, SRV, CAA, PTR, TLSA and HTTPS.

Keep DNS where it is. Add an A record for the website name, pointing at this server. Add the _smashpanel-verify TXT record yourself. Mail records, if you use them, also have to be created at that DNS host. The panel cannot write SPF or DKIM into a zone it does not host.

DNSSEC is not part of the zone editor. A second nameserver is not set up for you. When several SmashPanel servers are paired, one of them is the DNS authority.

For Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 mail, keep those MX records and do not point MX at Mailcow. You can still host the website here.
