Email with Mailcow
Mailboxes, webmail, client settings and deliverability records.
Mail is optional. Mailcow runs as its own stack and needs about 8 GB of RAM. Install it with the main installer, or leave it out with --skip-mailcow.
Clients create, delete and reset mailboxes and set quotas. Webmail is SOGo on the mail hostname, for example https://mail.example.com.
For a phone or desktop client, use the mail hostname, IMAP on port 993, and SMTP on port 587 or 465. POP3 is on 995 and 110 if you need it.
From the DNS zone this server hosts, the panel can write SPF, DKIM and DMARC. Publish those before you send real mail, and set PTR at the provider so the server IP address matches the mail hostname.
Administrators can also set forwarders, autoresponders, a catch-all, a spam score and a remote MX. Those controls are in the admin tools, not in the client mailbox screen.
Mail does not move when a cluster fails over. An account created through the Reseller API does not get a mail domain until you add one. Moving mail from cPanel is a separate imapsync copy. See Migrate from cPanel.
