DNS records before you install
The names to create so the panel, mail and certificates can work.
Point each A record at the server's public IPv4 address. The names below use example.com. Use your own domain.
panel.example.com— admin, reseller and client portalsmail.example.com— Mailcow, if you install maildocker.example.com— Portainer, which redirects into the panelstatus.example.com— the bundled uptime tool (monitors are added by hand)host1.example.com— the server's own hostname
At the server provider, set PTR so the server IP address resolves to the mail hostname.
Glue records for ns1 and ns2 are only needed when customer domains will use your nameservers. If a customer keeps DNS at their registrar, an A record to the server is enough for the website. See DNS hosting and nameservers.
Certificates stay pending until the name resolves to this server and port 80 answers. Create the records before you expect SSL to go active.
